Basketball Recap: Okemah Takes a Loss

Okemah has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 48-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Holdenville Wolverines. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 63-51.

Among those leading the charge was Mike Piza, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Stafford, who posted eight points.

Okemah's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Holdenville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Okemah has already played their next contest (against Sequoyah), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Holdenville will challenge Hilldale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holdenville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.4 points per game this season.
