Basketball Recap: Sandy Valley Cardinals vs. West Muskingum Tornadoes
Sandy Valley lost to West Muskingum back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cardinals were outmatched by the Tornadoes and fell 72-38. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 717th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 194th).
West Muskingum found their leader in sophomore Noah Morrison, who shot 64% from the field to rack up 19 points along with eight steals and five assists. The game was Morrison's third in a row with at least 17 points. Kyle Porter was another key player, going 7-for-16 on his way to 15 points.
Sandy Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season. As for West Muskingum, their victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5.
