Baseball Recap: Northampton Takes a Loss

Northampton extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-9-1. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Hadley Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-3 back in April.

Northampton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Agostino-Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

As for South Hadley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On South Hadley's side, Justin Moskal looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Noah Carillon and Gavin Carpenter did most of the damage at the plate: Carillon went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Carpenter went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Carillon has posted since back in March. Lincoln Belsky was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Northampton will venture away from home to square off against Easthampton/Hampshire at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Hadley, they will head out to face off against Hampshire Regional at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
