Baseball Recap: Akron Extends Winning Streak to Four

Akron extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping their season record up to 9-6 in the process. They came out on top against the Albion Purple Eagles by a score of 6-2. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Conlan Luck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jackson Odachowski was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Hunter Haist was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Albion, they now have a losing record of 8-9. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Albion's side, Nathan Gibson put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Gibson has become a key player for Albion: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-8 otherwise. Gibson was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Mason Snook made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Seth Krenning, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Akron didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Salamanca on the 17th. Hopefully Albion paid attention to the Tigers' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Tigers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
