Baseball Game Preview: La Jolla Vikings vs. Morse Tigers

The La Jolla Vikings will face off against the Morse Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

La Jolla blew San Diego out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday San Diego got their revenge. The Vikings fell just short of the Cavers by a score of 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered since May 5, 2025.

Carter Strauss made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of La Jolla's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Martin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Morse was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of High Tech SD.

Rey Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Morse's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for La Jolla, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-11.

La Jolla got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Morse by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
