Basketball Recap: Union Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Payzlei Parrish and Kinsley Tibbetts

Union lost against North Summit back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars came up short against the Braves, falling 48-28.

Despite the loss, Union had strong showings from Kinsley Tibbetts, who posted four points along with five boards and three steals, and Payzlei Parrish, who scored 11 points.

Leading North Summit to victory were Kate Smith and Ellie Stephens. Smith shot 4-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds, while Stephens dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 boards. Stephens is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 28 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Rue Sargent, who had four points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Union wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-24 win against Grand County on the 20th. As for North Summit, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-45 victory against Uintah on the 21st.
