Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 56-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taylorsville Warriors. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Summit Academy still got an impressive performance from Rivers Evans, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Evans is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Hernandez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

It was another big night for Logan Bertagnolli, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds for Taylorsville. The dominant performance gave Bertagnolli a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Chatlin Mills, who posted 14 points.

Summit Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Taylorsville, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.

Summit Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 86-62 defeat against Northridge on the 20th. As for Taylorsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, an 88-43 loss against Layton on the 19th.
