Recap: Baldwin Braves vs. Griffin Bears

The Baldwin Braves had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They skirted past Griffin 56-53. Given Baldwin's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Griffin is ranked 189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Baldwin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tremarius Lawrence out in front who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Lawrence has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Dennis, who scored 12 points.

Baldwin's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-2. As for Griffin, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Baldwin will take on Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Joshua Harden and Dennis. As for Griffin, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Southwest DeKalb at 3:30 p.m. on January 27th.
