Basketball Recap: Poston Butte Comes Up Short

Poston Butte suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 70-42 loss at the hands of the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles. The Broncos have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Broncos players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Izayah Robinette, who posted no points and 83 boards. Those 83 rebounds gave Robinette a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dutch Martinez Jr, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points.

ALA - Gilbert North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Speed, who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points and eight boards. Conner Morris was another key player, going 6 for 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Poston Butte's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for ALA - Gilbert North, their record is now 11-6.

Poston Butte didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-58 win against Crismon on the 16th. ALA - Gilbert North has also already played their next game, a 72-58 victory against Eastmark on the 16th.
