Game recap: Swain County high school football team tops Andrews as Smith throws for four touchdowns

Ray Smith threw for four touchdowns as Swain County (Bryson City, N.C.) defeated Andrews (N.C.) 62-6 on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a punt return touchdown by Matthew Maennle in the first quarter, the Maroon Devils led 41-6 at the half.

Swain County expanded its lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. SC scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Smith to Maennle.

With the win the Bryson City school extended its winning streak to nine games. The Maroon Devils defeated the Braves 61-8 last week.

The Wildcats' lone touchdown came on a 6-yard run in the second quarter.



Swain County had given up an average of 12.1 points prior to the contest.

A 55-7 Swain County victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

Andrews (2-6) goes up against Lake City in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Swain County (9-0) locks horns with Rosman in a 1A Smoky Mountain game.
