Softball Recap: Organ Mountain Falls Short Against Ranked Mayfield

Organ Mountain faced Mayfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Knights fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost six in a row.

Hannah Justus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Organ Mountain saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Melero, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Organ Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10-1. As for Mayfield, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

While Organ Mountain had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
