Volleyball Game Preview: Joliet West Tigers vs. Yorkville Foxes

The Joliet West Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the Yorkville Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Joliet West has five straight wins, Yorkville has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Joliet West won the last time they faced Plainfield Central, and Nolan Fellows did his part to make sure it happened again. The Tigers walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Wildcats on Tuesday for which the team can thank Fellows, who had 16 assists and four digs. He is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 12 games he's played.

Joliet West easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Yorkville didn't have quite enough to beat Geneva on Wednesday and fell 2-1. While the Foxes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 25-21 in the first set.

Yorkville started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Joliet West's win bumped their record up to 16-8. As for Yorkville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-16.

Joliet West beat Yorkville 2-0 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
