The Mourning Sharks will head out on the road to square off against the Varela Vipers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of four wins, Mourning's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 26-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Miami Beach. Mourning has struggled against North Miami Beach recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Varela suffered their closest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Hialeah by a score of 37-34. Varela has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mourning's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Varela, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Mourning was taken down by Varela 52-11 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mourning was down 34-3.
