Basketball Recap: Culver Academies Piles Up the Points Against New Prairie

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Culver Academies walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 70-32 win over the New Prairie Cougars. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Cougars are ranked 338th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

New Prairie lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braden Bachmann, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Wiginton, who scored nine points.

Culver Academies has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. New Prairie has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

Culver Academies didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-45 loss against South Bend St. Joseph on the 8th. New Prairie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
