Preview: Giddings Buffaloes vs. La Grange Leopards
The Giddings Buffaloes will head out on the road to face off against the La Grange Leopards at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Giddings has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while La Grange will arrive with three straight wins.
Giddings pushed their score all the way to 34 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They and Smithville were almost perfectly matched up, but Giddings suffered an agonizing 35-34 loss.
Despite their defeat, Giddings saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Bryson Mcdaniel, who rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry, was perhaps the best of all. Cade Patschke also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, La Grange really took it to Caldwell for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-21 victory on the road. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point La Grange had established a 25 point advantage.
La Grange's win bumped their season record to 3-4 while Giddings' defeat dropped theirs to 1-6.
Giddings suffered a grim 38-14 defeat to La Grange in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Giddings, Jakobe Wilkerson (who rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
