Recap: North Shore Mustangs vs. South Houston Trojans
The North Shore Mustangs pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to South Houston. While losing is never fun, North Shore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while South Houston is ranked 93rd).
North Shore's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavien Watkins, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence ?Tj? Alford, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds.
North Shore now has a losing record at 7-8. As for South Houston, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
North Shore will head out on the road to face off against Summer Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Houston, they will be playing at home against Alief Taylor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alief Taylor has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
