Preview: Center Roughriders vs. Carthage Bulldogs
Center is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Carthage is on a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Center Roughriders will take on the Carthage Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Center managed to keep up with Van until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Center was the victim of a tough 56-36 loss at the hands of Van.
Despite the defeat, Center got a solid performance out of Emonte Cross, who punched in four rushing scores. Cross is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Carthage at home against Rusk on Friday as the team secured a 49-21 victory. The result was nothing new for Carthage, who have now won seven games by 25 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carthage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kj Edwards, who rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikel Fields, who picked up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Carthage's victory bumped their season record to 8-0 while Center's defeat dropped theirs to 5-2.
Center was dealt a bruising 64-28 loss at the hands of Carthage in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Center have more luck at home instead of on the road?
