Preview: San Benito vs. Los Fresnos
San Benito is 1-9 against Los Fresnos since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The San Benito Greyhounds will head out on the road to take on the Los Fresnos Falcons at 7:30 p.m.
Last Friday, San Benito didn't have quite enough to beat Harlingen and fell 2-1. San Benito has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Los Fresnos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Weslaco a 11-0 shutout. Perhaps unsurprisinly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Los Fresnos' offense was hitting Weslaco from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal.
San Benito has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5-4 record this season. As for Los Fresnos, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5-5.
San Benito suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Los Fresnos in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can San Benito avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
