Heritage and Wake Forest are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2021, but likely not for long. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Heritage easily dispatched Wake Forest on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Huskies fell just short of Wakefield by a score of 5-3 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered against the Wolverines since May 5, 2022.

Heritage got a good showing from Holden Kafes, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Kafes is becoming a predictor of the Huskies' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Tyler Abbe made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Rolesville as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Wake Forest also got a great performance from Jackson Hardy as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ian Williams was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Kellen Rogers was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Wake Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rolesville only posted an OBP of .211.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Wake Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wake Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Heritage's way against Wake Forest when the teams last played on Tuesday, as Heritage made off with a 13-4 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
