Basketball Game Preview: Opelousas Catholic Vikings vs. Berchmans Academy Saints

The Opelousas Catholic Vikings will square off against the Berchmans Academy Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Opelousas Catholic is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering JS Clark Leadership Academy just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to the Bulldogs 55-50. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 118th).

Meanwhile, Berchmans Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Westminster Academy and fell 83-32.

Opelousas Catholic's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-12. As for Berchmans Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
