The losing side was boosted by Brandon Nixon, who posted 21 points. He has become a key player for Cary: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 20 points, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Bryson Keith, who had nine points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Purnell Swett strolled past Red Springs with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 54-39.
Cary better focus on containing Jeremiah Barnes and Colton Sampson as the pair were huge in Purnell Swett's win. Barnes shot 50% from the field on his way to 17 points, while Sampson earned eight points in addition to six assists and five steals. Those five steals gave Sampson a new career-high. James Swett also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.
Purnell Swett was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Cary and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Purnell Swett, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
