Basketball Recap: St. Cecilia Comes Up Short

St. Cecilia was the 32-25 winner over Minden when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Cecilia Bluehawks lost 52-32 to the Minden Whippets on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bluehawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Whippets are ranked seventh).

Mattie Kamery was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 11 on her way to 17 points along with six steals and five assists for Minden. The match was Kamery's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinsie Land, who posted 11 points and eight boards.

St. Cecilia is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7. As for Minden, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

St. Cecilia will face off against Kearney Catholic at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Kearney Catholic will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something St. Cecilia surely won't give up without a fight. Minden has already played their next game (against McCook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
