Football Game Preview: Gilbert Tigers vs. Skyline Coyotes

The Gilbert Tigers will take on the Skyline Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Gilbert and four for Skyline.

On Friday, Gilbert lost to Red Mountain on the road by a 49-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Mountain Lions are ranked ninth).

Gilbert might have lost, but man, Jonathan Guy was a machine: he rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 96 receiving yards and one score. Zane Grant was another key player, throwing for 257 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt.

Meanwhile, Skyline took a blow against Mountain Pointe on Friday, falling 48-6.

Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Gilbert, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Gilbert strolled past Skyline in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 36-22. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Coyotes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
