Basketball Recap: Wellsville-Middletown Tigers vs. Liberty Christian Academy Eagles
Wellsville-Middletown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles on Friday, falling 79-27. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.
Liberty Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Phoenix Obermann out in front who went 8-for-17 en route to 20 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Obermann's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Willy Mueller, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
The win keeps Liberty Christian Academy at an undefeated 5-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellsville-Middletown will host Community at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Warrior have now posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
