Football Game Preview: Harlingen South Hawks vs. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines

The Harlingen South Hawks will face off against the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harlingen South will be strutting in after a victory while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Harlingen South is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Donna: they outscored them in every quarter. The Hawks blew past the Redskins 28-7 on Friday. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Redskins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

It was another big night for Austen Shroyer, who threw for 222 yards and one TD while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 69 yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Harlingen South proved: they limited Donna to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. The Hawks are 3-1 when they shut down the run game so well.

Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial fell victim to Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial and their airtight defense on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Eagles. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory got Harlingen South back to even at 4-4. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Harlingen South beat Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial 21-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Wolverines' Ryan Reyna, who rushed for 170 yards and one score while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
