Recap: Northside Panthers vs. Madison Marlins

If the Northside Panthers were feeling good off their 62-39 takedown of the Wisdom Generals last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northside was outmatched by Madison at home and fell 110-59. Northside has struggled against Madison recently, as their match on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Northside still got an impressive performance from keith Wilson, who scored 31 points along with four steals. Wilson scored a full 52.5% of Northside's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jerryus Mathews was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Madison's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devean Newton, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and six assists. The match was Newton's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Avalos, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds.

Northside's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Madison, they pushed their record up to 8-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Northside will square off against Sterling at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sterling's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Madison will be home for the holidays to greet Wisdom at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Wisdom will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1614th, while Madison is ranked 456th).
