Recap: Byhalia Indians vs. New Albany Bulldogs

If the Byhalia Indians were riding high off their 69-40 takedown of the Tunica Academy Blue Devils last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Byhalia fell 74-64 to New Albany on Friday. While losing is never fun, Byhalia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while New Albany is ranked 46th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Albany to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Shettles, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. The match was Shettles' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Montes, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Byhalia has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for New Albany, their win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Byhalia is on the road again on Tuesday and play against North Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for New Albany, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Senatobia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Senatobia is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
