Softball Recap: NorthWood Panthers vs. Goshen RedHawks
NorthWood extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 5-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Goshen RedHawks. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the RedHawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.
Payton Sears - #13 made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Vega - #12, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
As for Goshen, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against NorthWood since May 18, 2022.
On Goshen's side, Emily Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on 14 hits and racked up seven Ks. Diaz has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dyllan Kincaid was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Maddy Denning also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
