Baseball Game Preview: St. Francis Spartans vs. Harvest Christian Academy Lions

The St. Francis Spartans will face off against the Harvest Christian Academy Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.

On Tuesday, St. Francis earned a 12-8 victory over Saint Viator. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly four runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harvest Christian Academy). They put the hurt on Alden-Hebron with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lions with their most commanding win of the season.

Harvest Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Ben Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Mitchell is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Kyle Ziebell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Harvest Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Harvest Christian Academy pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for St. Francis, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

St. Francis skirted past Harvest Christian Academy 7-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
