Baseball Recap: Kettering Comes Up Short

Kettering extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-11-1. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Farmington Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 5-1 loss on Tuesday.

As for Farmington, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-14. Five seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Farmington's part, John Lynem tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Lynem a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayden Essary, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Looking ahead, Kettering will face off against Milford at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Farmington, they will challenge Walled Lake Western at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
