Softball Game Preview: La Joya Coyotes vs. Weslaco Panthers

La Joya hasn't had much luck against Weslaco recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. La Joya will challenge Weslaco at 7:00 p.m. La Joya has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

La Joya managed to slip by Pharr-San Juan-Alamo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. La Joya lost 18-1 to Pharr-San Juan-Alamo on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Coyotes have suffered against the Bears since March 10, 2020.

Meanwhile, Weslaco had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Saturday. They didn't even let the Jaguars on the board, marking their second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Weslaco pushed their record up to 12-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for La Joya, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

La Joya might still be hurting after the 17-0 loss they got from Weslaco when the teams last played on March 7th. Can La Joya avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
