Football Recap: Clifton Keeps Tolar's Under Pressure

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Early, Clifton was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Tolar Rattlers by a score of 22-13. This was payback for the Cubs, who suffered a 41-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Carter Ritz was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 195 yards and one TD on only 12 passes, and also picked up 37 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Clifton didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Tolar to a completion percentage of just 40.9%. The Cubs weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 61.5%.

Clifton's defense didn't let Briton Rice, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Clifton got some further help from Luis Galindo: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Although Tolar took the loss, they still got scores from Noah Boulanger and Kelvin Murray.

Clifton's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Tolar, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Clifton has already played their next contest, a 56-7 win against Dublin on the 31st. As for Tolar, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-14 loss against Brady on the 31st.
