Baseball Game Preview: DeSoto Eagles vs. Cedar Hill Longhorns

For the second straight game, DeSoto will face off against Cedar Hill. The Eagles will face off against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. DeSoto is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

DeSoto fell victim to Cedar Hill and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Longhorns, falling 23-0.

For Cedar Hill's part, Julian Gonzalez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Gonzalez has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Nathaniel Alvarado was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brayden Boyd, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Cedar Hill is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for DeSoto, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
