Softball Game Preview: Cedar Cliff Colts vs. Chambersburg Trojans

Cedar Cliff hasn't had much luck against Chambersburg recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Colts will head out to take on the Trojans at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cedar Cliff came out on top against Mifflin County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Colts took their contest against the Huskies 8-3.

Isabelle Keys spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Martin, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooke Capozzoli also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Chambersburg waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Mountain Lions by a score of 8-3.

Chambersburg's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cedar Cliff, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-14.

Cedar Cliff suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Chambersburg when the teams last played back in April. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
