Softball Recap: Houma Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Houma Christian barely beat St. Charles Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Houma Christian was the clear victor by a 17-9 margin over St. Charles Catholic on Friday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Lily Cunningham was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Folse, who fired off four runs, four doubles, and five RBI while going 6-for-6. Those four doubles gave her a new career-high. Aubrey Thomas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Houma Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Houma Christian, bringing their record up to 10-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for St. Charles Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Houma Christian will take on Delcambre at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Charles Catholic, they will challenge Riverdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
