Softball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Lugoff-Elgin won the last time they faced Spring Valley and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Demons were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Vikings.

Cassie Merriweather tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Kayley Lynch was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Izzy Brown was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Lugoff-Elgin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Spring Valley, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-16.

Coming up, Spring Valley will square off against River Bluff at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lugoff-Elgin will be paying especially close attention to the Vikings' match: after the Vikings face off against the Gators, they'll take on Lugoff-Elgin again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
