Baseball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Mustangs vs. Durango Trailblazers

Shadow Ridge is 8-1 against Durango since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Trailblazers at 3:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Shadow Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Centennial, who was ranked fifth at the time (Shadow Ridge was ranked 18th). The Mustangs fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evan Noble was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Shadow Ridge's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 4-12 when he doesn't). Dylan Foster was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Durango and Bishop Gorman had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Trailblazers came up short against the Gaels on Thursday, falling 16-1.

Durango saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Farrell, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Shadow Ridge's record now sits at 7-13. As for Durango, their record is now an identical 7-13.

Everything went Shadow Ridge's way against Durango in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Shadow Ridge made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trailblazers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
