Softball Recap: Adrian Comes Up Short

Adrian had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 5-3 to make it four. They lost 11-2 to the Skyline Tigers. The Blackhawks were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four matchups prior), but the Tigers' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Skyline, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Skyline's part, Adena Acker was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Acker has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Skyline got a massive performance out of Breanna Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Tymber Pinon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Adrian will host Leeton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.5 runs per game on average), something the Blackhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Skyline, they will welcome Stockton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
