Recap: Meridian Mustangs vs. McCool Junction Mustangs
The Meridian Mustangs lost against the McCool Junction Mustangs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Meridian was dealt a 67-19 loss at the hands of McCool Junction. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Meridian has scored all season.
Leading McCool Junction to victory were Mapieu Kouchinin and Ryland Garretson. Kouchinin scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Garretson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Garretson is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Mcdonald, who scored 14 points.
Meridian bumped their record down to 4-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for McCool Junction, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will take on Shelby-Rising City on Saturday. As for McCool Junction, they will head out on the road to face off against Harvard at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
