Basketball Recap: Athens Drive Gets the Win

Athens Drive won the last time they faced Riverside-Durham, and Derek Crumpton did his part to make sure it happened again. The Athens Drive Jaguars enjoyed a cozy 63-44 victory over the Riverside-Durham Pirates on Monday thanks in part to Crumpton, who shot 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 boards. What's more, he also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024.

Marcus Green was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points along with five assists and five boards. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.

When it comes to explaining why Riverside-Durham lost, don't look at Darryn Johnson. Despite the final result, he posted ten points and seven assists. Jamari Murphy was another key player, putting up seven points.

Athens Drive's record now sits at 5-6. As for Riverside-Durham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Athens Drive will face off against Sanderson at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Sanderson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60 points per game this season. As for Riverside-Durham, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 69-53 defeat against Durham Academy on the 7th.
