Basketball Game Preview: Southwestern Heights Mustangs vs. Meade Buffaloes

The Southwestern Heights Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Meade Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Saturday, Southwestern Heights blew past Wichita County, posting a 58-28 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Meade, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 67-17 victory over Ashland. Given the Buffaloes' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Blue Jays are ranked 216th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meade is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Southwestern Heights, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-3.

Southwestern Heights came up short against Meade when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 42-33. Can Southwestern Heights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
