Basketball Game Preview: Lampasas Badgers vs. Jarrell Cougars

Lampasas and Jarrell are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Lampasas Badgers will be playing at home against the Jarrell Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lampasas beat Marble Falls 39-35. That's two games straight that the Badgers have won by exactly four points.

Meanwhile, Jarrell entered their tilt with Taylor on Tuesday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They walked away with a 42-30 win over the Ducks.

Jarrell found their leader in sophomore Aniya Taylor, who went 7 of 17 en route to 22 points and four steals. The game was Taylor's tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamyre' Fitch, who posted six points.

Jarrell is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Lampasas, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.

Lampasas couldn't quite finish off Jarrell when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 60-57. Can Lampasas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
