Softball Recap: Valmeyer Comes Up Short

Valmeyer managed to slip by Gibault Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Pirates lost 14-2 to the Hawks on Tuesday. The Pirates' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Avery Proffer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Valmeyer's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gibault Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.

Coming up, Valmeyer will challenge New Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Gibault Catholic, they will square off against Steeleville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
