Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Union City). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the McNair Academic Cougars an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Soaring Eagles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Zaylee Vargas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Vargas was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI.
