Soccer Recap: St. John Paul II Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when St. John Paul II challenged Leon on Friday. The St. John Paul II Panthers came up short against the Leon Lions, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 328th, while the Lions are ranked 150th).

St. John Paul II is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Leon, Florida State University High School, and Wakulla. As for Leon, their win bumped their record up to 7-4-3.

St. John Paul II will square off against Wakulla at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wakulla will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something St. John Paul II surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leon, they will take on Florida State University High School at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Leon's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Florida State University High School's offense will have their work cut out for them.
