Basketball Game Preview: Essex Hornets vs. Bellows Free Academy Bobwhites/Comets

The Essex Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Bellows Free Academy Bobwhites/Comets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Essex has three straight victories, Bellows Free Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Essex had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt Rice Memorial on Monday. Essex simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rice Memorial 64-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Hornets have posted since January 2nd.

Meanwhile, Bellows Free Academy faced Champlain Valley Union in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Bellows Free Academy fell to Champlain Valley Union 43-39.

Essex pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Bellows Free Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.

Essex came up short against Bellows Free Academy in their previous meeting on February 4th, falling 39-32. Can Essex avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
