Basketball Recap: Webster County Comes Up Short

Webster County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 34-28 to the Wahama White Falcons, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Highlanders came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the White Falcons are ranked 311th).

Webster County now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Wahama, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Looking ahead, Webster County will face off against Pocahontas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pocahontas County will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Webster County surely won't give up without a fight. Wahama has already played their next contest (against Calhoun), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
