Basketball Recap: Rising Sun Comes Up Short

Rising Sun was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 59-51 to the Switzerland County Pacers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Shiners of the 62-55 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

When it comes to explaining why Rising Sun lost, don't look at Brody Morris. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 24 on his way to 28 points. That was a full 54.9% of Rising Sun's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dj Williams, who had six points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Rising Sun was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Leading Switzerland County to victory were Cam Craig and Isaac Williams. Craig dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards, while Williams dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Williams has posted since back in December of 2023. Corbin Craig was another key player, putting up four points.

Rising Sun's record is now 0-4. As for Switzerland County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Rising Sun will be playing in front of their home fans against New Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rising Sun is facing New Washington at the right time seeing as New Washington is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Switzerland County, they are taking a road trip to challenge East Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 20th. Switzerland County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully East Central likes a good challenge.
