Basketball Recap: Central Kitsap Comes Up Short

Central Kitsap lost against North Thurston back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Central Kitsap Cougars were beaten by the North Thurston Rams 74-25. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Soraya Ogaldez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Thurston, going 14 of 21 on her way to 30 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ogaldez has scored at least a third of North Thurston's points. Another player making a difference was Shayla Cordis, who went 8 for 12 en route to 21 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Central Kitsap and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for North Thurston, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Central Kitsap will challenge Peninsula at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for North Thurston, they will square off against Bellarmine Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Thurston knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Bellarmine Prep likes a good challenge.
