Soccer Recap: Weir's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

Weir proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by four) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand the East Liverpool Potters a 1-0 shutout. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Weir's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 56th in West Virginia, while East Liverpool are ranked 367th in Ohio).

Weir's one-goal win came courtesy of Lorenzo Liberto, which was the first he's scored this season.

The win got Weir back to even at 9-9. As for East Liverpool, their defeat ended a four-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6-1.
